LG Keybo

LG Keybo

The enV 2 (aka Keybo or VX9100) doesn’t look at all like its prior incarnation. Its smaller, thinner (4” x 2.13” x .65”) and 30 percent lighter. Aside from the cosmetic changes however, the enV 2 is almost identical to the original.

Closed, the face looks a bit strange, with a small rectangular screen at the top which looks squeezed, and the remaining exterior dominated by the keypad. Between the screen and alphanumeric keypad is a dedicated music button, “send”, “end” and “clear” buttons and just above the middle an “okay” button flanked on top and bottom with arrow keys. The black exterior is trimmed in a snazzy faux chrome.

Interestingly, the small external screen does have the benefit of providing a much roomier keypad than its former edition, despite being an overall smaller phone.

The enV2 opens lengthwise to reveal a thoughtful full Qwerty keyboard with small but easy-to-use buttons and a good use of color to distinguish which keys perform additional functions. The internal display is flanked on either side with speakers which, if used in speakerphone mode, produces a surprisingly good quality sound for listening to music.

Other than the fairly dramatic physical makeover, the enV2 retains most of the features of its predecessor the enV. You get a 2MP camera (with the external screen acting as a roomy view finder), Bluetooth, 1000 entry phone book with considerable customizable options, and internal 2.4 inch 240 x 320 pixel display, an MP3 player and video recorder.

Of course, the enV(2) includes all entry level features too, including speakerphone, alarm, calendar and voice recorder.

The enV 2 is an excellent choice for someone who wants very good call quality and enjoys texting, taking pictures and surfing the internet.
