The DROID 2 runs Android 2.2 (“Froyo”) out of the box which brings improved performance and full support for Adobe Flash and corporate email systems. Although Android 2.2 is very new, it builds on the popular Android 2.1 operating system which has thousands of applications available for it, and it probably needs no introduction. One unusual feature with the DROID 2 is the optional “3G Mobile Hotspot” that allows you to turn your smartphone into a hotspot that you can connect up to five devices to, which makes it very easy to use a...

The Droid X and the EVO 4G are packing some serious heat. Both rock a 4.3-inch display. Both have an applications processor clocked at 1Ghz. And, both have HDMI-out ports that will allow you to stream videos from your phone to an external monitor or TV in full 720p HD resolution (with audio, no less – video demo here). Droid X is a larger phone. It’s thinner, for the most part (camera bulge notwithstanding), than the EVO, but it’s also taller. It’s not too much taller, but it does make a difference when putting an already sizable smartphone slab in...

The camera has autofocus and a dual LED flash in addition to its 8 megapixel resolution. The quoted rates for video capture are impressive as Motorola say that the DROID X is capable of 720p HD recording. It can also play back captured video via the built-in HDMI port or via DLNA.Internal flash memory is a useful 8GB, plus a 16GB card in the standard sales package which can be swapped out for a much larger 32GB card if you want. The DROID X also comes with GPS, supports Google Maps and has turn-by-turn navigation. Most types of multimedia are supported, and...

The Motorola CHARM  is an Android 2.1 device with a fairly small 2.8″ QVGA touchscreen but a decently laid out QWERTY keypad which does make it pretty unique . On the back of the Motorola CHARM is a 3 megapixel fixed focus camera with Kodak software enhancements. The rear of the phone also has a small pad on it called the BACKTRACK, which works like a standard navigation pad for selecting options and scrolling through menus. The idea is that the user can use the BACKTRACK without having to obscure the smallish screen with their finger.Inside is 1700/2100...

The size and weight of the Motorola XT720 is about the same as the original Milestone, although it’s about 3mm thinner as the XT720 doesn’t have a QWERTY keyboard. This is an Android 2.1 handset, although Motorola haven’t included support for MOTOBLUR on the XT720 which is present in their more consumer oriented devices. Android 2.1 includes access to the full range of Google apps, plus a massive range of software from the ever growing Android market. A good web browser is included as standard, and the high resolution screen of the XT720...
